Adieu Golf for Women Magazine

I was shocked to read that Golf for Women has folded. I have been featured in GFW several times, including a booklet comprising of my tips from my 72 Secrets for Successful Business Golf.

What started this closure was Susan Reed's announcement that she was resigning as editor of GFW to join O, the Oprah Magazine as editor. Congratulations, Susan, on your new position! Susan, let's work together to get Oprah to turn millions of her female viewers into golfers. Best of luck to you in your new position!

I don't read many "paper" magazines anymore. I wonder how other pubs are doing in this digital world and sour economy.

I think it's a shame that this magazine has folded. It's also a shame about the mess that Carolyn Bivins is in with the English speaking rule on the LPGA. What a weird time for women's golf!

Great Blog though! For information on the mini-tour scene - www.coastalplayerstour.com/blog

I hate to see the magazine fold too. So many magazine are having a difficult time transitioning to the digital format and keeping the traditional publication. I've noticed a lot of mags offering 3 subscriptions for the price of one lately. Its only a matter of time before we see a few more close shop.

I hope Golf Digest incorporates women golfers in their publication, like they did before the merger with Golf for Women under Conde Nast. At least some specialized attention would be better than the void left by Golf for Women's departure.

Or, Susan Reed can start a golf revolution with Oprah's readers within the O Magazine. Can you imagine the number of new female golfers if Oprah's followers caught onto the great game of golf?
